Debian security/vulnerability checks & audits

I am an absolute novice on the cyber security front, so I make no claim more than that about my ability.
There are a lot of articles that claim/say “you don’t need an anti-virus system if you are running linux”. Maybe they’re right – maybe it’s just foolish optimism. Even so, much better to have a vague starting point than to bury your head in the sand.
I add Lynis, RKhunter, and chkrootkit.
If you also want to add an AV as well, ClamAV is probably a good option – but I’ll cover that another time.
Below is part of the security check/audit process I use on most of my debian 9.x (stretch) installations.
