A What-To/Why-To, NOT a How-To

A What-To/Why-To, NOT a How-To

There are literally hundreds of HOWTO’s on the net – each having good points and bad, each showing “better” ways to do things. They are incredibly useful…IF/ONCE you know what it is you’d like to achieve.

What I have found though, is that by the time I know for sure what I want to achieve, what they are saying suddenly seems SO obvious. You can almost see why they seem so blasé and annoyed with us stupid people.

Some of the posts here are my versions of the clever people’s HOWTO’s. If I reference or use one of their articles, I will credit them and include a link to their article(s). What I recommend to anyone who is hoping to learn – is to read them all – often. Their style may annoy the hell out of you, but if they get the knowledge across you shouldn’t care about that.

More often the problem (for me anyway) is knowing WHAT to do, and WHY to do it, rather than HowTo. 90% of the problem is defining the problem. Once you can do that, you’ll more easily be able to search for a HowTo that most likely covers almost your exact use-case scenario.
Search, Read, Research – using search engines like DuckDuckGo (because Google is an advertising company more than a search engine)

I will elaborate on this and offer examples at a later stage.
